my tools, like my skill set, were not quite up to the task of sculpting stone. I rushed the process and my first attempt resulted in the stone splitting right along a seam hidden deep inside the rock. I stared at this ruined piece with its rough smile smirking at my failed attempt.
Slowly, over time, my stone craft skills improved. I kept the broken stone as a reminder to be patient and work in a way that was more in tune and respectful of how the stones were formed. To capitalize on the inherent strengths of the stone and avoid adding stress to the areas of weaknesses. Slowly, my perception of the smile's attitude softened until one day, it no longer felt so wicked. In time, it even took on a feeling of warmth and mirth.
This broken rock embodies finding success in failure, discovering patience within frustration, and transforming mockery into joy. This broken rock captures my journey from illness and weakness to a new place of healing and strength.
This is truly my favorite piece. Not because I see the Burnin4U logo beaming at me from within. Not because its beautiful. Not because its whole...but because this small stone taught me the lesson of finding beauty and purpose within something previously perceived as broken.
